MKTG 347 Week 7- Introduction to Facebook Insights

Imagine posting content to a Facebook page and receiving sporadic interaction with the posts. Posting content does not equal user interaction. Facebook Insights provides data about a Facebook page's content performance and audience. The powerful tool allows social media marketers to test and improve their content.

Facebook Insights gives Facebook page admins information about content interaction and audience. Admins can check the post reach and engagement for the page and individual posts. In last week’s post to the Marketing Novice Facebook page, the post reach was twelve and the post engagement was four. Twelve people potentially saw the post. Users engaged with the post four times and gave the post three likes. After accumulating one hundred followers, admins can acquire more data on their audience. Neil Patel dives into Facebook Insights in his article “A Beginner's Guide to Facebook Insights”. Facebook Insights informs admins of the demographics of their audience such as their location, gender, and primary language. The data provided by Facebook Insights can help admins develop more engaging content.

To create quality performance content, reviewing data from Facebook Insights is beneficial. Admins can learn what posts are the most successful by checking the post reach and engagement for posts. Insights include an overview of a Facebook page’s activity. Admins can identify the median post engagement per media type and top-performing organic posts. After recognizing the best-performing media type, admins can create similar content with improved engagement. On the Marketing Novice Facebook page, individual posts with text in the images received higher engagement than posts without images with text. In the future, producing posts with engaging images could create more page traffic. Patel further explores the benefit of knowing a Facebook page’s audience to customize posts. For example, a Women Entrepreneurs Facebook page may have a primarily female audience. The page should create content and posts that appeal to its audience. By using data from Facebook Insights, social media marketers can identify and adapt their Facebook page.

Facebook Insights is a helpful tool for social media marketers. The tool collects data about a Facebook page and audience. The collected data can be utilized to test and improve the Facebook page. Overall, exploring Facebook Insights is a great way to understand the inner workings of Facebook pages.
